Hello!

Tabby Rei purrs: "Haya~!"

This is the Dormitory. Ehhh, there's not much to see here, this is just where I live!

I guess we could chat for a bit if you have any questions...

Who are you?

I’m Rei. I like weird shit! I’m also known as Cryptid Rei in most other places, and as Horror Movie Rei in Doom circles.

What type of weird shit?

Art and media that is weird, crude, obscure, violent, fringe, or generally taboo. Unfiltered human expression and strange anecdotes and ephemera from real life.

What are you?

I’m a person shaped “thing”, I'm a nobody with no place in this world.

Are you a boy or a girl?

I’m some sort of cryptid.

What's the deal with this place?

Just my little digital priest hole where I get to share projects and talk about things I like to no one in particular. If anyone at all.

What stuff do you like?

I tend to gravitate towards things that defy convention, and/or that are completely unfiltered and self indulgent. For me it's not a matter of it being popular or not, but rather of it being honest. Sometimes I just like things that are cool and kick ass also.

Do you like scary movies?

Yes! As a matter of fact I’m big into horror in general. In movies, books, games, mixed with comedy, played straight, schlock, thoughtful, playful, etc...

What type of music do you like?

Either something fast that gets you pumped, or slow and melancholic. So basically a lot of metal, electronic/techno/breakcore and adjacent genres, shock rock, punk, a bit of rap and a bit of prog rock and some indie stuff. I’m not good with genre names, and much less with sub genres, but I think you get the idea.

I am by no means a music expert, I'm just a casual listener.

Do you like video games?

Of course, look at the whole aesthetic of this website! I like retro games and indie games. I don’t play a whole lot of modern AAA games, and I’m pretty picky with anything post 2010 in general unless it’s indie. It’s very rare that I’ll play something super big nowadays, and it’s usually only when it’s exceedingly good, or if I can play it with friends. I'm not a fan of a lot of modern trends and “business models” that plague AAA gaming, and I hate that games have ballooned both when it comes to size and system requirements. I never did get used to these changes. I at best put up with it.

But yes, I do love video games, even if the industry standard displeases me.

Why not use (insert social media here) instead?

I don't enjoy playing the popularity game, and I don't want too many eyes on me. I also hate the etiquette of such places, I hate the mob mentality, I hate the dog piling, and I specially hate the puritanical/conformism/moral panic when it comes to discussing art. I engage with social media in a very passive way, and I have no intention of changing. I never felt at home on those huge platforms, too agoraphobic.

What's the point of sharing all of this if you expect no one to read it?

I’m doing this all for myself! I could just keep a diary, or keep my projects in my hard drive, but presenting them like this is a lot more fun! It’s all about the experience, that’s what adds flavor to life. And if you’re here and you’re enjoying yourself, that’s great too!

You're a pretentious freak.

Once you get to a certain age you realize that keeping up appearances is pointless. People either fuck with you or they don’t. Plus, this is my personal website, I can be as obnoxious as I want! It’s not like I’m gonna be showing up on anyone’s “timeline” or whatever.

But that's about as much as I'm willing to talk about myself directly. How about checking the rest of the observatory?
